The role
A Discipline Counsel represents the Provost in academic discipline proceedings before the University Tribunal and offers legal advice to various university departments. They conduct legal research, draft legal documents such as pleadings and affidavits, and manage a high volume of complex cases independently. The role requires maintaining high standards of justice and respectful legal communication, often dealing with high-stakes situations involving students. Collaboration with team members and adherence to university policies concerning administrative law are essential. Candidates must hold a legal degree and be a member of the Law Society of Ontario, with at least four years of legal experience in litigation or administrative law.
