The role
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving cloud-hosted applications, primarily on AWS, ensuring operational excellence, security, and reliability across multiple regions. They lead complex cloud initiatives from conception to deployment, supporting ongoing application lifecycle management including patching and decommissioning. The role involves enhancing observability, implementing SRE practices, and driving improvements in system resilience and performance. A key aspect is ensuring workloads comply with security, governance, and compliance standards, working closely with security and architecture teams. Collaboration with development teams to optimise cloud architecture and tooling is essential, along with the potential for technical leadership as the platform matures. The role demands extensive hands-on experience with AWS environments, infrastructure-as-code, automation, Kubernetes support, and operational excellence methodologies.
