The role
A highways electrician is responsible for disconnecting and reconnecting street lighting tails, testing and inspecting installations, and ensuring work complies with highway electrical standards. They operate safely and efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship, collaborating closely with supervisors and operational teams on live highway sites. Candidates should possess relevant electrical certifications such as 18th Edition wiring regulations, G39, and HESA 214, among others, and ideally have experience with LED lantern replacements and highway electrical work. The role requires good inspection skills, the ability to work independently or within a team, and a full UK driving licence. This geographically mobile role involves on-the-road work, with pay rates negotiable based on experience.
