The role
Provides senior-level legal counsel focusing on municipal real estate matters, including eminent domain and complex property transactions.
Independently manages assigned matters, negotiates and drafts agreements, and advises executive leadership and the board on strategic initiatives.
Focus areas include property acquisition and relocation, condemnation procedures, and structuring fee and easement rights for transit projects.
Counsels on intergovernmental agreements, MTCA cost-recovery litigation, utility relocations, and compliance with state and federal real property laws.
Requires eight-plus years of transactional or litigation experience in real estate, strong research abilities, and the ability to manage outside counsel.
Works in a hybrid environment, collaborating with engineers, planners, and executives to balance legal risk with public interest.
