The role
Serve as principal legal counsel on treaty rights, tribal sovereignty, environmental and natural resource law, and organizational compliance.
Lead and mentor a team of attorneys and staff, overseeing litigation support, policy development, and intergovernmental negotiations.
Develop strategic plans, budgets, and performance metrics aligned with the mission, while ensuring risk management and compliance.
Provide legal guidance on tribal treaties, sovereignty, contracts, and regulatory changes; coordinate and oversee litigation for member tribes.
Collaborate with tribal governments, federal and state agencies, and regional partners to advance priorities and reflect tribal perspectives.
Manage contracts, update policies, and drive cross-department initiatives; travel regionally, with possible Washington D.C. engagement, and hybrid work options.
