The role
A Lead Product Manager at HMRC is responsible for leading multiple product teams within the business tax area to develop and deliver digital services that align with strategic objectives. The role involves creating and maintaining product roadmaps, engaging with senior stakeholders, and managing product lifecycle phases from discovery to live operation. Candidates should have extensive experience in lean, agile, or user-centred design methods, and in building strong stakeholder relationships. They are expected to coach and mentor product managers and enhance capability across teams, while ensuring delivery of valuable outcomes through effective prioritisation and performance measurement. Technical expertise in digital product development and an understanding of related professions such as service design or engineering are desirable. The position requires a strategic leader capable of managing dependencies and driving innovation across portfolios while maintaining compliance with civil service standards.
