The role
The position involves conducting daily, weekly and ad hoc surveillance analysis using various systems to monitor market activities for potential abuse or manipulation, including assisting with electronic communications. The officer will serve as the primary contact and subject matter expert on cash equities surveillance, supporting investigations and exchange queries as needed. Responsibilities include ensuring surveillance activities follow approved procedures, escalating issues appropriately, and collaborating with the global surveillance team to align systems and risk management strategies. The role also requires preparing trade evidence and supporting compliance reporting, alongside participating in system enhancements and quality assurance measures. Candidates should have strong equities knowledge, experience with trade surveillance systems like Actimize or SMARTS, and a good understanding of UK and EU regulations, especially market abuse rules.
