The role
A general accountant in Toronto is responsible for verifying figures, postings, and documents for accuracy, organising and securing financial files, and analysing computerized financial information. They classify, code, and summarise numerical data to produce financial records using journals, ledgers, or computers, and prepare, audit, and distribute financial and payroll reports. The role includes completing period-end closing procedures, preparing invoices, and resolving past due accounts and vendor issues. Daily duties involve consolidating cash deposits, documenting cash variances, and managing cashier banks and contracts. Candidates should have at least one year of relevant experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess strong organisational skills, proficiency with financial software, and a professional communication style.
