The role
The University of Toronto's Department of English invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in global anglophone literature and postcolonial theory. The appointment is expected to commence on 1 July 2027. Candidates should possess a PhD in English or a similar discipline, with specialisation in South Asian, Middle Eastern, Caribbean, or Black Diasporic Literature and postcolonial studies, or related areas. Expertise in creative writing, digital humanities, environmental humanities, poetry, or drama is viewed favourably. Applicants must demonstrate research excellence through publications, conference presentations, awards, and strong references. The department values candidates who can enhance their current strengths through research and teaching, aligning with its commitment to anti-racist and decolonising pedagogy. Emphasis is placed on diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a preference for Canadians and permanent residents. The salary range is CAD 120,000 to CAD 135,000 annually depending on experience.
