The role
The role involves preparing feasibility and detailed designs for water projects, producing plant layouts, and selecting mechanical equipment including specifications and hydraulic calculations. Collaboration with civil, electrical, and process engineering teams across the UK is essential, along with site surveys and stakeholder engagement. The engineer will participate in design reviews and technical meetings, such as HAZOPs and SWIFTS, ensuring quality and compliance of deliverables. Line management and mentorship of junior engineers are key responsibilities, alongside reviewing mechanical designs produced by colleagues. The position requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering, progress towards Chartered Engineer status, and experience with water and wastewater engineering projects. Technical skills in CAD, hydraulic analysis, and industry standards such as WIMES are vital to succeed in this role.
