The role
Provide proactive language access in a healthcare setting via in-person, telephone, and video interpreting, including basic translation when needed.
Select appropriate interpreter modality for each encounter, use technology to deliver services, and troubleshoot basic software issues.
Foster strong internal partnerships, help manage costs, and leverage vendor relationships to ensure accessible language services.
Interpret information related to patients' and families' healthcare needs across education, appointments, discharge instructions, procedures, and emergencies.
Act as a cultural broker to educate caregivers on how culture influences healthcare, and translate basic written materials as required.
Meet professional requirements, including language assessment, ethical conduct, and complete a 40-hour Medical Interpretation Training within 1 year of hire; national certification is preferred.
