The role
An industrial engineer in Loughborough collaborates on analysing production processes to identify inefficiencies, supports operational planning through time studies and capacity modelling, and optimises material flow and workstation design to enhance throughput and ergonomics. They partner with production teams to implement process changes and lead continuous improvement projects from conception to realisation, ensuring they meet timelines and budgets. Data collection and analysis are integral for identifying trends and driving improvements, while applying Lean tools such as 5S and SMED to ensure sustainable site enhancements. They develop performance dashboards and support cost reduction initiatives by improving asset utilisation and reducing scrap. The role involves collaborating with quality teams to reduce defects and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, alongside leading a small engineering team and coaching staff in continuous improvement practices.
