The role
Own day-to-day operations, availability, backups, and performance of production and development database environments.
Administer, monitor, and secure relational databases (PostgreSQL strongly preferred; MySQL/Oracle also acceptable) including patching and schema changes.
Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and recovery for database-related issues.
Collaborate with systems, storage, OS, and network teams to optimize storage and infrastructure impacting DB performance.
Leverage Linux command-line and scripting for troubleshooting; drive automation and modernization with configuration management (Ansible).
Work across on-prem and cloud configurations, with exposure to containerized workloads (Docker/Kubernetes) and distributed storage (Ceph/RBD) as growth areas.
