The role
A Multimedia Reporter covers the Birmingham and West Midlands area, providing news content for radio, online, and social media channels. The role involves sourcing, developing, and delivering original stories centred on local developments and breaking news, often reporting live on location. The duty includes filming and editing audio and video content, building relationships with local sources, and ensuring all content complies with legal and Ofcom standards. The reporter collaborates within a team environment, maintaining a news diary and sharing coverage plans regularly. Skills in fast-paced news reporting, technical proficiency in broadcasting platforms, and community engagement are essential. The role requires a recognised journalism qualification, a full driving licence, and a keen eye for accurate, balanced reporting.
