The role
As Attorney-in-Charge, you will lead the New York County Criminal Defense Trial Office, guiding a diverse team of attorneys, social workers, paralegals, and support staff.
You will oversee daily operations, cultivate a culture of excellence, inclusion, and client-centered advocacy, and drive strategic priorities.
You will mentor emerging leaders, invest in professional development, and champion holistic, race-conscious defense that advances systemic change.
You will build bridges with the District Attorney's Office, the Office of Court Administration, elected officials, and community partners to advance transformative public defense.
You will manage resources, staffing, and workload to support staff well-being and sustainable practice, while shaping rigorous legal strategy.
You will model collaborative leadership, uphold integrity, and contribute to building a more just and equitable criminal legal system.
