Digital Journalist – Boston

WHDH is hiring a part-time digital journalist to oversee the station’s online news presence on whdh.com and social media platforms. The role involves sourcing story ideas from social media and other channels, writing and publishing articles, editing video clips, and disseminating breaking news updates through social media and mobile alerts. The candidate will collaborate with editors and news producers to gather and verify online content for stories, applying SEO techniques to optimise headlines and notifications and choosing appropriate photos. Ideal applicants will have journalism experience, knowledge of AP Style, and be capable multitaskers who excel in fast-paced, breaking news environments. Skills in WordPress, basic HTML, Photoshop, and web analytics are desirable. Work is based full-time at the station’s downtown Boston office, with an emphasis on digital media skills and local market knowledge.
