Lawyer – Derby

A qualified lawyer is sought to support Derbyshire County Council's Legal Services team on a fixed-term basis, providing advice on matters such as information law, trading standards, employment law, and civil litigation. The position involves managing compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and other regulations, as well as handling information requests, investigations, and breach reporting. Responsibilities include offering legal advice on trading standards, consumer protection, debt recovery, and personal injury claims, along with employment law support, tribunal handling, and drafting legal documents. The role requires excellent advocacy, negotiation, communication skills, and the ability to independently manage a varied caseload. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to minimise legal risks and ensure compliance. Experience in at least two specified legal areas and a professional legal qualification are essential for this position.
