Design equipment to control movement, storage, and packaging of solids, liquids, and gases.
Plan measurement and control systems for chemical plants using laboratory data and pilot plant results.
Optimize unit operations such as mixing, grinding, heat transfer, distillation, polymerization, and fermentation while balancing process requirements, economics, operator effectiveness, and safety.
Perform tests and measurements to monitor variables like temperature, density, and pressure.
Indirectly oversee operation and control of equipment such as condensers, pumps, boilers, reactors, valves, tanks, and pipelines to achieve the desired chemical or physical changes.
May conduct research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes; participate in cross-functional projects.
