Lead Database Administrator

The Lead DBA oversees the design, operation, and strategic development of database environments, with responsibilities including infrastructure management, security compliance, and performance optimisation. This role involves collaborating with engineering teams to establish standards, mentor staff, and ensure high availability and resilience of database systems. The successful candidate will have expertise in relational and non-relational databases such as MariaDB, MySQL, and MongoDB, along with strong Linux and scripting skills. They will be proficient in disaster recovery, replication, and automation technologies including CI/CD pipelines and IaC tools like Ansible and Terraform. The role requires analytical problem-solving skills and experience in leading teams to improve operational processes and standards. Regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimisation of database health are core to this position, supporting the development and deployment of secure, scalable, and efficient database environments.
