The role
A Principal AWS Cloud Engineer at QinetiQ leads the design and implementation of resilient, scalable, and secure cloud environments on AWS, guiding technical strategy and infrastructure development. The role involves acting as a technical escalation point and mentoring engineering teams to ensure operational excellence and innovative solutions. Responsibilities include architecting multi-region AWS environments, evaluating emerging AWS services, and developing enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines. Candidates should have extensive AWS experience, strong Infrastructure as Code skills, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Node.js. A minimum of AWS Associate certification is required, alongside experience in large-scale distributed systems and enterprise security configurations. The role operates within a team-based, on-site environment with participation in an on-call rota, requiring SC clearance eligibility.
