The role
A senior data scientist with expertise in applied mathematics leads modelling and simulation projects to optimise robotic interactions and predict system performance in the logistics industry. They develop bespoke customer environment models and design complex simulations to assess throughput and ROI, guiding hardware deployment. Collaborating with software engineers and product teams, the role includes integrating analytical models into core offerings and mentoring junior team members in coding standards and mathematical validity. They utilise advanced statistical methods to extract insights from data generated by autonomous machines and contribute to strategic decision-making. The position requires a minimum of five years' experience in data science, applied mathematics, or engineering with simulation focus, an MSc or PhD in a related field, and proficiency in Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and SimPy, as well as C++. Strong communication skills for non-technical stakeholders and familiarity with data visualisation tools and Git are essential.
