The role
The Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable delivery, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of cloud and infrastructure services within an enterprise IT environment. The role involves translating architectural designs and business needs into secure, scalable operational services, with an emphasis on automation, resilience, and operational efficiency. The engineer collaborates with architects, security teams, managed service providers, and stakeholders to deploy, support, monitor, and optimise infrastructure platforms to meet organisational objectives. Key responsibilities include managing hybrid cloud environments, resolving incidents, supporting major outages, ensuring compliance, and driving automation initiatives such as Infrastructure as Code. The role requires strong expertise in cloud platforms like Azure and AWS, VMware, network infrastructure, and supporting both Windows and Linux systems, including container platforms. Technical skills and experience are essential for maintaining service quality, security, and disaster recovery readiness.
