The role
Provide court-appointed criminal defense services in Multnomah and Washington counties.
Review charging instruments, police reports, and discovery; meet with clients to align representation with their goals.
Develop case strategy, determine investigations, conduct legal research, and present issues for the appropriate forum.
Negotiate with the State, promptly advise clients of negotiations, and litigate necessary issues, including trials.
Handle post-trial matters such as sentencing and post-trial motions (excluding appeals) and collaborate with units.
Maintain confidentiality, work independently and as part of a team, and adhere to statutes, practice standards, and Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct.
