The role
A database administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining SQL Server environments across on-premise and cloud platforms, ensuring database security, performing backups, and supporting upgrades and migrations. They support high availability and disaster recovery solutions, participate in incident management, and support database performance optimisation. The role requires strong experience with SQL Server in complex enterprise environments, expertise in performance tuning, security, and Azure SQL, as well as scripting skills with SQL and PowerShell. Knowledge of ITIL service management is vital for alignment with best practices. The role involves technical troubleshooting, system optimisation, and ongoing monitoring to ensure stable database operations.
