The role
A cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced meals tailored to residents' dietary needs and preferences within a care setting. They plan menus with a focus on fresh ingredients and nutritional value, while maintaining accurate records of stock supplies and deliveries. The role involves preparing, cooking, and serving both hot and cold meals, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas. Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and special diets for older adults is essential. The cook ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, maintains equipment, and adheres to infection control procedures. The role requires excellent organisational skills, a passion for quality cooking, and the ability to work effectively on a rota including weekends and bank holidays.
