The role
Provide accurate Mandarin interpretation and translation at ILR Level 2+ to support communication between staff, unaccompanied minors, and program stakeholders.
Deliver on-site interpretation at ORR program sites when possible, and remote services via phone or video as needed, including 24/7 availability.
Assist UC/UAM/URM with expressing concerns, questions, and needs when English proficiency is limited, while upholding confidentiality.
Translate documents from English to Mandarin and vice versa, supporting orientation to community resources.
Apply professional judgment, cultural insight, and discretion to mitigate language barriers in sensitive, complex settings.
Contribute to building rapport and understanding of cultural context, as part of a broader care and services team.
