The role
A chemical engineer develops, scales, and optimises chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and continuous manufacturing environments. They design, size, and select process equipment such as reactors, pumps, vessels, piping, and instrumentation. The role involves creating P&IDs/PFDs, performing process calculations, and troubleshooting process and equipment issues. Candidates are expected to have experience in process development, scale-up, and pilot or continuous manufacturing, with hands-on skills in chemical processing equipment and process safety. They will support equipment assembly, commissioning, and pilot operations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to transition processes into production. Proficiency in process safety methodologies like HAZOP and FMEA, alongside solid analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, are essential.
