The role
A Power System Engineer is responsible for designing and analysing electrical distribution networks from LV to 132kV, including substation and cable network design, network modelling, and power system simulations. The role involves conducting load flow, fault level, and protection studies, alongside assessing arc flash risks and harmonic disturbances. The engineer will manage embedded generation projects, liaising with distribution network operators on connection and capacity upgrades. They will produce technical reports, specifications, and drawings, as well as support site surveys, commissioning, and installation inspections. Technical expertise in electrical engineering design tools and power systems analysis is essential, as is the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to clients and teams.
