The role
The Marine Chef is responsible for preparing balanced and dietary meals onboard ships at all times, adhering to hygiene and safety standards. They supervise meal service, manage catering supplies within budget, and monitor storage areas for safety and quality. The role involves operating in compliance with maritime policies, ensuring twenty-four-hour catering availability, and reporting any operational defects to the Chief Engineer. Candidates must hold valid STCW certification, a Ships Cook CoC, and an unrestricted ENG1 Medical, as well as a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification. Technical skills include culinary expertise, galley operations, and safety compliance, requiring knowledge of catering management and maritime health standards.
