The AWS Cloud Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining scalable, real-time applications using AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, S3 and Aurora. They optimise applications for low latency and high throughput, ensuring resilience and security compliant data handling. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, monitoring system health with CloudWatch, and implementing containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and testing practices like TDD is essential. Desirable skills include Java and Azure data services, facilitating integration and automation tasks. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous system improvement in a hybrid working environment.
