De functie
Independent, self-motivated journalist to cover the North County of San Luis Obispo, including Paso Robles, Templeton, and Atascadero.
Deliver quick-turn breaking news and in-depth accountability reporting that informs subscribers and builds trust.
Develop and sustain source networks, pursue open records requests, and report clearly and fairly.
Shoot basic photos and vertical video, and leverage AI and multimedia storytelling to elevate coverage.
Collaborate with a newsroom team, adapt to flexible hours, and engage audiences to grow loyalty.
Requirements: journalism degree or equivalent, 1–3 years of reporting (internships eligible), reliable transportation, and a valid driver’s license.
