Junior Database Administrator

Under the supervision of the Manager, DevOps, and in close partnership with the Senior Database Administrator, this role provides day-to-day operational support for on-premises and cloud database environments, focusing on migrations, modernization, and reliable performance.
The Junior DBA assists with maintenance, monitoring, backups and restores, and health checks, gradually taking on more responsibility as skills grow.
Responsibilities include administering Microsoft SQL Server (on-premises and Azure SQL) and evaluating PostgreSQL, patch management, high-availability testing, and encryption/config management.
Supports access provisioning, least-privilege database permissions, vulnerability remediation, auditing, and documentation, following established change and incident management processes.
Gains exposure to Azure data services, DevOps workflows, and CI/CD deployment; contributes to automation and post-migration validation.
Collaborates with DevOps, application development, and infrastructure teams; participates in project meetings and develops toward increased responsibility, including after-hours support as needed.
