Lead Mechanical Engineer - Utility Systems Design

Lead Mechanical Engineer responsible for end-to-end ownership of critical utility systems (Chilled Water, Steam, Heating Hot Water, Compressed Air, Natural Gas, and Plumbing) within a regulated biotech/pharma manufacturing site in Clayton, NC.
Immediately own at least two utility systems from existing design through modification, expansion, and ongoing implementation with minimal ramp-up.
Lead system design, sizing, and development of code-compliant drawings, specifications, and construction documents; review bids, evaluate contractor submittals, and support FATs for critical equipment.
Provide field support during construction, answer RFIs, and ensure work aligns with design intent; support startup, commissioning, and turnover of utility systems.
Serve as utility systems SME, analyze existing infrastructure, and support evolving production needs; collaborate with maintenance, operations, and project teams in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements include 8+ years of industrial mechanical engineering experience with end-to-end ownership of two systems, BS in Engineering (NC PE preferred), and experience in regulated manufacturing; CAD tools a plus.
