The Educational ASL Interpreter facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others in an educational setting.
They interpret spoken language into American Sign Language and vice versa to ensure access to classroom instruction, activities, and discussions.
Proficiency in ASL is required, with state- or client-specific certifications such as EIPA, RID, and State Board of Education certificates as applicable.
A degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or a related field (associate or bachelor’s) is preferred.
Additional requirements include CPR, health screenings, TB questionnaire or PPD, chest x-ray (where applicable), and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and professional standards.
This on-site role emphasizes collaboration with teachers and staff to deliver accurate, timely interpretation in educational settings.
